Mr Bailey Lawson claims the testing of the school’s recently purchased Map My Run software was a success despite a student using the program to draw a specific area of the male anatomy.
The popular software is used by many people undertaking exercise as it plots a runner’s course with a bright red line on a map, simply by the runner carrying a mobile phone or similar device.
Mr Lawson took his Year 10 Information, Communication and Technology class to the oval and selected various students to run while carrying an iPhone with the app installed. ‘The students were really engaged,’ said Mr Lawson. ‘I challenged Hillary to run in a rectangle shape. The class then huddled together and examined the course she’d run and saw a bright red rectangle over the map. Marco then ran all over the place and his map had a long, red, squiggly line on it.’
Thomas, a member of the Year 10 class, explains what happened next. ‘As soon as Mr Lawson asked for the next volunteer, Billy’s hand shot up. He was keen as. Billy grabbed the iPhone and went flying around the oval. He looked like he was running around randomly, you know, two big curves and some straight-line sprints. Mr Lawson took us back to the classroom and displayed Billy’s run using the projector.’
BANG! Projected onto the screen was a massive penis and balls. The class were falling off their chairs laughing. Billy was high-fiving everyone.
Holding back laughter, Thomas continued his recount. ‘BANG! Projected onto the screen was a massive penis and balls. The class were falling off their chairs laughing. Billy was high-fiving everyone.’
‘The app performed just as I hoped it would,’ said Mr Lawson. When asked about the appropriateness of the image Billy mapped, he replied. ‘Obviously it wasn’t ideal. But look at the positives. That boy has demonstrated outstanding spatial skills to be able to draw that using his running path. He’s even got all the ratios correct. Billy has obviously been paying attention in Personal Development class. I’d even say he’s been doing some extra study in that area at home.’

Principal, Mr James Matthews, is expected to come down heavily on Billy. ‘Last time he got himself into trouble his parents, Gary and Belinda, offered me their full support,’ he said. ‘I’ve never had parent support before. I’m going to throw the book, and everything, at him.’
